Description
INTRODUCTION Ammonia loss significantly reduces urea-N use efficiency in crop production (1), (2). Efforts to reduce ammonia loss are laboratory oriented, as such limited in reflecting actual field conditions. Reduction in urea-N use efficiency in agriculture particularly when urea is surface-applied to soils has been generally associated with ammonia volatilization and it is thought to be the major pathway for urea-N loss from surface-applied urea (1), (2).
